Last Sunday, Eileen spoke, as promised, about the second part of last week’s story – only she called it the Two Lost Sons. The older son was also “lost” because his rage at the unfairness of his brother’s reception caused him to lose sight of his father’s love for him. He insulted his father by remaining outside, and yet his father’s love for him was just as unconditional as his love for the younger brother. Eileen’s message was that no matter how much we have transgressed in our lives, we have always experienced God’s forgiveness and continued love. We should do likewise to others. One interesting point – we are not told in the Bible, how this story develops over the future years!! Eileen will be back to lead our worship and our Communion celebration this coming Sunday, in the Bennochy building at 11 a.m. Activity bags for all age groups will be available for the young folk. Those wishing to sing with the choir should meet with Richard at 10 a.m. Last Sunday’s choir introit was ‘Here in the House of the Lord’, the lyric by the late David Muncey and music by Richard himself.
Enquiries about booking rooms or halls in future weeks can be directed to the Langtoun Church office in the St Bryce Centre, by phone on 640016, or by email to office@langtouncentralchurch.org.uk The St Bryce Centre coffee bar is open Monday to Thursday for teas/coffees, cakes and rolls 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and lunches 11.45 a.m. to 1.45p.m. Gluten-free and vegan options are always available.
On Monday (21st Sept) the Bible Study group will meet at 10 a.m. in the St Bryce building to continue their discussions on Mark’s Gospel, while the Craft Group will meet at the same time in the Bennochy building. Our Carpet Bowling group will also meet on Monday in the Bennochy building at 2 p.m. and the Community Choir will continue their rehearsals at 6.30 p.m. On Tuesday, the Guild will be meeting at 1.30 p.m. in the St Bryce Small Hall to hear from Vicky Brady about the history of kilt making, while the Bell Ringers will continue their practice at 2.30 p.m. in the Bennochy building. That evening the Country Dancers will meet at 6.30 p.m. in the Methven Hall in Bennochy. The Olive Branch cafe will be open in Bennochy on Thursday as usual from 11 a.m. till 12 for snacks, and lunches until 1.30 p.m.
Sunday 27th will see the last of our Summer Special services in St Bryce sanctuary at 7 p.m. when Rt Rev Rosie Frew will come to lead our worship. Everyone welcome!
