As summer draws to an end, arrangements are already well underway for Langtoun Central\u2019s support of this year\u2019s shoebox appeal. We are again grateful to Mary Stark for her willingness to co-ordinate this appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not all of the promotional materials are as yet available but we have received a supply of the contents\/checklist leaflets which allows the distribution for filling of those boxes which are already covered. A supply of these will be available for collection from the foyer in both Bennochy and St Bryce Centres. Should you have available for donation any spare Christmas wrapping paper or empty shoeboxes (removable lid style only), Mary will be very delighted to receive them. Rather than fill a whole box, others might prefer to give monetary donations or donations of some of the required items, and this too will be much appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who prefer to supply and cover their own boxes, please simply pick up a leaflet .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together, through our support of this appeal, we can help bring joy and hope to many Eastern Europeans for whom life is so difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
News from Blythswood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Thank you so much for your continued support for our Shoe Box Appeal. Last year your unwavering support enabled us to send over 85,000 shoeboxes to eight different countries \u2013 Albania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine. From those we deliver these gifts to, thank you so very much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since our first Shoe Box Appeal in 1993 we have sent more than 2.8 million boxes \u2013 each one different, each one personal, each one an expression of your care and kindness towards a stranger in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Filled with small, practical items such as toiletries, stationery, and clothing, the individually-wrapped boxes have been distributed in schools, hospitals, orphanages and care homes, and to households in very low income communities.
