the 5th and 6th of March, the new Stained Glass Windows were installed which commemorate the union to form Bennochy Parish Church.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter the design of the window, the churches are linked by a ribbon which encircles Bennochy. The union is symbolised through colour: the blues in the St Andrew\u2019s panel (lower left) combine with the yellows in The St John\u2019s panel (lower right) to give green in the Bennochy panel (centre) \u2013 the colour of resurrection and new life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">The following descriptions explain the design behind each diamond in the window, from left to right.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/langtouncentralchurch.org.uk\/gallery\/windows\/window1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Lower Left Diamond: St Andrew\u2019s Church<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The saltire cross and rope &#8211; symbols of St Andrews martyrdom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The fish \u2013 St Andrew offered the two fish in the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The net \u2013 St Andrew the fisherman. The main hall hosted the exhibitions along with ad-hoc singing groups and choirs. At the end of the day a closing worship was held including a Presbytery wide Choir and Praise Band. In the classrooms, various workshops were held with Bennochy providing a video on the new stained glass windows and a talk on website design. Brought in by the Scottish Bible Society primarily for school children, the highly acclaimed education resource was visited by nine local primary schools with over 700 children enjoying the latest technology to bring the bible to life. This was a wonderful boost to the appeal and everyone was thanked for filling a shoe box or who gave a donation. The building had been empty since the union to form Bennochy Parish Church in early 2010. This year the major themes of St. Columba were celebrated as 2013 marks 1450 years since his arrival on Iona. At Bennochy we celebrated the &#8220;Spiritual Life&#8221; of St Columba followed by &#8220;On a mission&#8221; at St Bryce, &#8220;Peace&#8221; at Linktown and &#8220;Hospitality&#8221; at Abbotshall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">The first stage in preparing for our new community caf\u00e9 saw the Methven Hall painted in a new olive green colour during July to be followed by new curtains. A single Strawberry Fayre was held this year which raised \u00a3784 for Church funds. Jo Jingles hold classes around the country and are very popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">On the 24th August, a <strong>Fun and Find Out Day<\/strong> was held in the hall and gardens when over 140 mainly local residents spent the afternoon taking part in activities, were entertained and offered free refreshments. As the event\u2019s name suggests, \u2018fun\u2019 was very much the theme and there was something for all ages and interests. Outside there was a range of traditional games in which children (and quite a few adults) got totally involved, culminating in a \u2018tug of war\u2019. Fortunately there were plenty of hot dogs to help keep up energy levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">Inside, all the halls including the sanctuary, were home to quizzes, robot demonstrations (Boys&#8217; Brigade), learning origami (Brownies), a local history display (Kirkcaldy Civic Society), a Taekwondo demonstration (Taekwondo Club) and a piece of community theatre intriguingly entitled \u2018Do Elephants Live Upstairs?\u2019 (Suit and Pace). Meanwhile George the Clown wandered round encouraging folk to have a go at all the activities. At the &#8220;Community Evaluation Stall&#8221; everyone had the opportunity to comment on the local area and make suggestions. The caf\u00e9 is open every Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">The first day got off to a very good start thanks to the great support from members of the congregation and the team of volunteers. There were quite a few new faces and hope that these numbers will increase as word spreads. Feedback on the menu was very positive. Ian Hunter, as president of the Civil Service Football Club, organised the special 150th anniversary match which was hosted by HRH The Duke of Cambridge. This event was widely covered by TV news broadcasts. Kirkcaldy Foodbank was founded in Dysart with support and supplies from the congregation. As part of the annual Fun and Find Out Day, an internet access facility was launched which is now available during the caf\u00e9 opening hours and also provides free wi-fi &#8211; turning us into a full Internet Caf\u00e9! A section of the hall was setup with a selection of donated laptops to allow members of the local community to access web based services. The local MSP <strong>David Torrance<\/strong> formally opened the new facility. After the workouts a trip to the Olive Branch Caf\u00e9 would likely be needed! If that was not enough, a new Monday night Zumba class was also inaugurated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">Our annual Songs of Praise service was held at the beginning of March where members of the congregation were able to select a song and give a short introduction as to why it was chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">This years RNLI SOS Tea Afternoon with a cake and candy stall, also in March, raised over \u00a31,300 with proceeds to the Kirkcaldy branch of the RNLI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">The Open Door team fundraiser event of the year was an auction of nearly 100 donated items &#8211; a great effort!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">During the summer a new heating system was installed throughout the Church with increased flexibility when used in the various halls. The Methven Hall stage was also removed and replaced with a new storage area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">In September the Church hosted another <strong>Fun and Find Out Day<\/strong> which included the output from the first meetings of the new <strong>Quilting Group<\/strong> as well as food and childrens entertainment. Also providing musical delights were the newly formed <strong>Community Choir<\/strong> based on the popular TV series. All members of the local community are invited to take part regardless of singing ability!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--30)\">The gardens were also enhanced with two new benches, one dedicated to former long time congregation member Effie Cooper by her family. Many old boys were present to see presentations to John and to hear him speak of his long service. In association with this event an exhibition of Boys&#8217; Brigade memorabilia was hosted the Methven Hall.
